The Great Channels of Virginia: One of the Most Unique Hikes in the Appalachian Mountains

When Noah and I set out to hike the Great Channels, I knew it was considered one of the most unique hiking destinations in Virginia. What I didn't expect was just how surreal the experience would feel once we reached the maze of sandstone formations hidden high in the mountains.

One of my favorite parts was watching Noah explore. Every twist and turn became a new discovery, and it was impossible not to feel like a kid again while navigating through the towering rock corridors. The hike to reach the channels is moderately challenging, but the reward at the end is worth every step. As someone who has completed the Mammoth March twice, I always appreciate destinations that make the journey feel meaningful. The Great Channels delivers that feeling.
